The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court has directed the forfeiture of 40 million rupees in bail money previously deposited by former cricketer Aravinda de Silva and his spouse. The funds were posted as surety for Priyanka Niyomali Wijenayake, a suspect involved in the ongoing probe into the Airbus agreement. Wijenayake, who is the widow of former airline executive Kapila Chandrasena, failed to attend a scheduled court hearing, resulting in the issuance of an arrest warrant. Authorities are currently coordinating with Interpol to locate the suspect. During the proceedings, the court permitted the sureties to pay 20 million rupees immediately, granting them until October 14 to settle the remaining balance of the forfeited bail amount.
