Qatar Museums has announced an upcoming exhibition titled Boats Floating Afar: The Maritime Trade of Ancient Chinese Ceramics, scheduled to open at the National Museum of Qatar on October 26, 2026. This display, which remains open until February 15, 2027, serves as a continuation of the Qatar-China 2016 Year of Culture initiative. The collection features over 120 artifacts from the National Museum of China, supplemented by items from Qatar Museums. The exhibition explores the evolution of Chinese ceramic craftsmanship and international trade routes spanning from the Tang dynasty to the Qing dynasty, covering the period between 618 and 1911 CE. Visitors will be able to view various historical vessels, including bowls, plates, and jars, which highlight the historical significance of maritime commerce in the distribution of Chinese artistic production.
