Patrick Branco Ruivo, the director general of the company managing the Eiffel Tower, will resign by year-end following an investigation into operational failures. The inquiry was prompted by an incident on September 5, where female employees were reportedly sidelined or replaced during a visit by a delegation from the BAPS Hindu religious group. Management had instructed female staff to avoid contact with the visitors, leading to widespread condemnation from employees who described the directives as discriminatory. While the Eiffel Tower operator labeled the situation unacceptable and committed to gender equality training, BAPS stated that they never requested the exclusion of women, noting that their religious practices do not necessitate such measures. This controversy led to staff strikes and further scrutiny of management practices at the iconic Parisian landmark.
