Delhi's air quality has deteriorated to the poor category, with the city recording an average Air Quality Index of 230 on Wednesday morning. Data from the Central Pollution Control Board indicates that 41 out of 56 monitoring stations reported poor or worse conditions, with Pusa reaching a peak AQI of 318, the highest level observed since mid-July. Surrounding regions also experienced declining air quality, as Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram all registered readings in the poor range. This seasonal decline in air quality is a recurring issue for the national capital, often attributed to factors such as vehicle emissions and agricultural residue burning in neighboring states. The current readings highlight the ongoing environmental challenges faced by the region as winter approaches.
