South Korean financial markets experienced a significant recovery on Wednesday, reversing the sharp declines observed during the prior trading session. The Korea Composite Stock Price Index climbed by 182.92 points, representing a 3.29 percent increase, to finish the day at 5,735.66. This upward momentum was primarily driven by a strong performance in the semiconductor sector, as market anxiety regarding artificial intelligence expenditure began to subside. During the session, the index reached a peak of 5,816.43, leading the Korea Exchange to implement a buy-side sidecar mechanism before 11 a.m. to briefly halt program trading. Additionally, the local currency appreciated in value against the US dollar as investor sentiment improved throughout the day.
