Members of the Cockroach Janata Party, including activist Saurav Das, were taken into custody by Delhi Police on Tuesday. The group had entered the Jantar Mantar area to conduct a demonstration, challenging recent government restrictions on the site. While being transported in a police vehicle, Das recorded a video message questioning the Home Ministry's authority to restrict access to the historic protest venue. He characterized the move as an attempt to suppress public dissent without proper consultation. The activists maintained that Jantar Mantar should remain an open space for democratic expression and vowed to persist with their campaign, which includes demands for the resignation of official Gyanesh Kumar. The incident highlights ongoing tensions regarding the availability of designated spaces for public demonstrations within the Indian capital.
