During a campaign rally in Arizona, former US President Donald Trump recounted a conversation with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani regarding presidential transportation. Trump stated that he reached out to the Qatari leader to request the temporary use of a Boeing 747 to serve as Air Force One, citing the age of the current American fleet. According to Trump, the Emir rejected the idea of a loan, opting instead to donate the aircraft to the United States entirely. Trump noted that he accepted the offer on behalf of the country. The aircraft, designated as the VC-25B, is intended to function as an interim solution while the US military awaits the arrival of two new presidential planes, which are currently scheduled for delivery in 2028.
