Representatives from the foreign ministries of Qatar and Mexico recently convened in Mexico City for their third round of political consultations. The Qatari delegation, led by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi, met with a Mexican team headed by Secretary of Foreign Affairs Roberto Velasco Alvarez. The discussions centered on enhancing bilateral ties, with a specific emphasis on expanding trade and investment opportunities. Furthermore, the officials reviewed the progress of the Qatar-Mexico 2026 Year of Culture initiative. Beyond bilateral matters, the two nations addressed regional developments and explored collaborative efforts in mediation and conflict resolution, including joint work with Switzerland and Norway to foster preventative diplomacy. The meeting concluded with the formal signing of a bilateral agreement between the two countries.
