The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) have established a formal partnership to advance urban development across Central Asia and Eastern Europe. This collaboration aims to integrate EDB’s financial resources and regional project experience with UN-Habitat’s specialized knowledge in sustainable housing and urban planning. The initiative focuses on four primary pillars: providing technical assistance for urban projects, enhancing the capacity of local municipal authorities, implementing digital infrastructure solutions utilizing artificial intelligence, and conducting joint research. This partnership builds upon EDB’s existing urban infrastructure projects, such as the digital mapping platform currently under development in Dushanbe. By combining institutional strengths, both organizations intend to address the global housing crisis and promote the creation of resilient, inclusive urban environments through systematic project preparation and the exploration of new investment mechanisms.
