Health authorities are dispatching a specialized research team to Salyan, Nepal, to address the escalating scrub typhus outbreak. The infection, which originated in Darma Rural Municipality, has now reached seven local administrative units. Recent health screenings conducted by the District Health Office involved over 2,400 individuals, revealing 472 confirmed cases. The outbreak has resulted in eight fatalities within Darma, primarily affecting elderly patients and those with pre-existing medical conditions. Chief District Officer Bandana Kumari KC confirmed that experts from the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division in Teku are coordinating the response to contain the spread of the disease. Efforts are currently focused on analyzing the transmission patterns and providing necessary medical support to the affected regions.
