The Hong Kong Journalists Association has requested that law enforcement apply the same level of urgency to all threats against media organizations. This statement follows the rapid arrest of a 24-year-old man who allegedly sent a letter containing an unknown white powder to Sing Tao Probe, a consumer advocacy platform affiliated with the Sing Tao News Corporation. The suspect reportedly sent the threatening correspondence due to grievances regarding a previously submitted consumer complaint and accusations of stalking leveled against him by various media outlets. While the police successfully detained the individual within hours of the incident, the journalists' union emphasized the necessity for equitable protection across the entire press sector, regardless of an outlet's editorial stance. The suspect is currently being held in police custody as investigations continue.
