Local family courts are currently managing an unprecedented volume of litigation, including disputes over divorce, khula, child custody, and financial maintenance. Data covering the first nine months of 2026 reveals that 10,103 new cases were registered between January and September. This trend includes a rise in legal actions from Christian women following legislative updates that simplified divorce procedures for their community. During this timeframe, judicial authorities finalized 1,246 divorce decrees. Furthermore, the courts facilitated the recovery of 220 children for their mothers and mandated temporary maintenance payments in 11,247 separate instances. These figures highlight a significant increase in family-related legal proceedings across the district, reflecting broader challenges in domestic dispute resolution.
