The Federal Constitutional Court has officially closed a case regarding the appointment of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan, leading a two-judge panel, declared the petition moot due to the recent implementation of governor's rule and a state of emergency in the province. The federal government enacted these measures on Sunday, alleging that the provincial administration failed to adequately address terrorism. Following the government's announcement, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party confirmed that Afridi and several cabinet members were taken into preventive detention. Consequently, the court determined that the legal challenge against the Chief Minister's position is no longer relevant under the current administrative circumstances.
