The Federal Constitutional Court has issued a 44-page verdict challenging the neutrality of former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa during the legal proceedings involving the Monal restaurant. A three-judge panel, presided over by Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi, noted that the Supreme Court bench previously led by Isa included comments in their ruling that were not supported by the official judicial records. This detailed judgment follows the court's earlier decision to reverse a 2024 Supreme Court order that had mandated the destruction of the establishment located at Pir Sohawa. The initial Supreme Court bench, under Isa's leadership, had rejected a review petition from the restaurant's proprietor while including specific remarks about the owner. The Federal Constitutional Court has now formally set aside those previous directives, citing procedural concerns regarding the impartiality of the former judicial leadership.
