The Fifth Samarkand Forum on Human Rights has officially begun, drawing over 200 participants from various international, regional, and national bodies. The event features a diverse group of experts, civil society members, and business leaders engaging in both physical and virtual sessions. During the opening ceremony, Akmal Saidov, Director of the National Human Rights Center of Uzbekistan, highlighted the conference's role as a vital platform for addressing contemporary rights challenges. Key officials, including Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva and UN Resident Coordinator Sabine Machl, delivered opening remarks. The two-day program is structured around plenary meetings and breakout sessions held in Tashkent, concluding in Samarkand. The event will culminate in the adoption of a final document aimed at fostering effective solutions for human rights protection.
