Sheikh Abdul Hye, the former chairman of the state-run BASIC Bank, has reportedly relocated to Canada amidst serious allegations of financial misconduct. Once considered a leading financial institution, the bank suffered significant decline during his tenure, with investigators accusing him of orchestrating massive embezzlement and approving irregular loans. Although Hye has publicly denied these claims, describing himself as a scapegoat, multiple audits conducted by the Bangladesh Bank have corroborated the reports of widespread corruption. After remaining out of the public eye for several years, he recently engaged in phone conversations where he attempted to deflect blame by suggesting that other officials were also involved in the bank's controversial lending practices. Despite his assertions of innocence, the evidence gathered by regulatory authorities continues to link him directly to the institution's collapse.
