Former religious affairs minister Jamil Khir Baharom appeared at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court to face three charges related to the alleged misappropriation of RM860.3 million from Tabung Haji. The prosecution claims the funds were dishonestly disposed of to Al-Rawda Investment for Real Estate Development and Projects Management Co Ltd across three separate transactions between 2015 and 2017. Charged under Section 403 of the Penal Code, the former minister could face imprisonment, fines, and caning if convicted. Judge Rosli Ahmad set bail at RM300,000 and ordered the surrender of the defendant's passport. The case is scheduled for further management on November 5. Jamil Khir is the latest figure to be charged following investigations into the pilgrims' fund, which also implicated other former officials and executives linked to the scandal.
