A 64-year-old retired director from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Datuk Prof Muhammad Hussin, has appeared before the Shah Alam Sessions Court to face allegations of abuse of power. The defendant entered a not guilty plea regarding two counts of contract manipulation totaling RM3.12 million. Prosecutors allege that in 2022, while serving as a member of Koperasi Siswazah Bangi Berhad, the accused leveraged his influence to secure management contracts for a Master of Education program. Specifically, he is accused of persuading board members to appoint QTech Management Malaysia Sdn Bhd as the program operator, a firm in which he reportedly held a personal interest. The contracts were valued at RM1.2 million and RM1.92 million respectively. Judge Datuk Mohd Nasir Nordin presided over the initial hearing as the legal proceedings regarding these alleged financial irregularities commenced.
