French judicial authorities have ordered the detention of eight Turkish nationals pending trial regarding an international arms smuggling operation. The arrests followed a police interception on September 10 in the Ain department, where officers discovered 150 imitation Glock handguns inside a van traveling from Hannover, Germany, toward the Paris area. Investigators believe the smuggling network has been active since early 2025, selling weapons for prices ranging between 1,300 and 2,800 euros. Authorities suspect that several individuals involved in the trafficking ring maintain connections to the Daltonlar, a criminal organization based in Istanbul. In total, police apprehended 12 men across various French locations, including Marseille and the Paris region, during a two-day operation. The investigation into the distribution of these illicit firearms remains ongoing as officials continue to examine the network's broader activities.
