During its 63rd session held in Riyadh on September 16-17, the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) Technical Council ratified 812 draft standards and nine translation initiatives. The council also authorized 25 technical regulations and various amendments to existing standards. A new working group dedicated to the GCC Metrology Cluster Strategy and legal metrology guidelines was established, and the council officially designated an annual Gulf Standardisation Day. According to officials, these measures are intended to bolster cooperation between national standards agencies, streamline regional trade, increase the competitiveness of local goods and services, and strengthen consumer safety. The meeting was presided over by Sheikh Hamad bin Salman al-Khalifa, representing Bahrain.
