The Philippines Mobile Da’wah and Charity Association has formally requested that the Zamboanga del Sur Schools Division refrain from organizing academic events on Saturdays and Sundays. In a letter to Superintendent Dr. Ma. Judelyn Ramos, the organization emphasized that these days are crucial for Muslim students to attend Arabic language classes and engage in religious education. Furthermore, the association highlighted that weekends allow students to support their families financially and spend quality time with relatives, which they argue is essential for emotional well-being. The group also suggested that increased family bonding could help mitigate behavioral issues and violence within school environments. By adjusting the scheduling of extracurricular activities, the association believes the Department of Education can better support the holistic development of Muslim learners, ensuring their academic duties do not conflict with their spiritual and cultural commitments.
