Significant snowfall in northern Humla has obstructed the Hilsa-Taklakot path, resulting in 41 Nepali citizens being trapped at Hilsa. These individuals, primarily residents of Namkha Rural Municipality involved in trade within Taklakot, were halted by the weather conditions last Friday. Consequently, Chinese authorities have suspended access to the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage route. Local immigration officials anticipate that the border crossing might resume operations by October 4, provided that road clearance efforts are successful. Currently, approximately 2 to 2.5 feet of snow covers the area. While work to clear the path is ongoing on the Chinese side, officials note that restoring access on the Nepali side will likely require more time due to the depth of the accumulation.
