The Hong Kong Tourism Board has officially abandoned plans to install lighting along the Peak Circle Walk. This decision follows significant opposition from local residents and hikers who argued that the project would negatively impact the natural environment. In a formal document presented to the Central and Western District Council, the board confirmed that it had engaged in discussions with lawmakers and district representatives to address public grievances. Although officials initially explored the possibility of modifying the scope of the installation, they ultimately concluded that the project was unnecessary. The board cited the feedback received, the potential effectiveness of proposed adjustments, and the availability of other tourism initiatives as the primary reasons for the complete cancellation of the lighting scheme.
