India has committed to maintaining its technical and operational support for Sri Lanka’s national tuberculosis control program. This agreement followed a bilateral meeting between Sri Lankan Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa and Indian Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda. The discussion occurred during the 79th session of the WHO Regional Committee for South-East Asia held in Dili, Timor-Leste. During the dialogue, Dr. Jayatissa acknowledged India’s ongoing support and friendship during challenging times for his nation. Both officials reviewed strategies to bolster the Sri Lankan healthcare sector, specifically focusing on enhancing efforts to manage and mitigate tuberculosis. Minister Nadda confirmed that India would persist in providing the necessary resources and expertise to help Sri Lanka achieve its public health objectives regarding the disease.
