The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has issued a directive for the immediate withdrawal of a specific batch of Everest cumin powder. This action follows laboratory analysis of a sample obtained from a Goa resort, which revealed concentrations of Azoxystrobin and Thiamethoxam surpassing established safety thresholds. These substances are commonly utilized in agriculture for pest and fungal control, yet their presence in food items beyond regulated limits presents potential health hazards. According to the regulatory body, the tested product failed to meet the compliance standards set forth by the 2006 Food Safety and Standards Act. Consequently, the manufacturer is required to remove the affected inventory from circulation to ensure consumer safety.
