Director Jack Neo has removed actor Hari Kishen Balakrishnan, known as Kiki Darling, from the upcoming film Ah Boys to Firefighters. The decision followed the emergence of information regarding the 24-year-old actor's past conviction for sexual assault. The production team confirmed the details of the conviction on September 8, noting that they were previously unaware of his criminal record as it had not been disclosed during the casting process. Following internal consultations, the actor chose to step down from the project, acknowledging the potential negative impact his involvement could have on the film. The production crew is now moving forward with plans to recast the role.
