The Ministry of Healthcare in Kazakhstan is drafting legislative amendments to limit the promotion of unhealthy food and beverages to children. The proposed regulations aim to curb advertisements for products with high levels of sugar, salt, and saturated fats across various media platforms, including television, radio, social media, and outdoor displays. Officials are currently conducting a regulatory impact analysis to support these changes. The primary objective of this initiative is to mitigate the influence of aggressive marketing on the dietary choices of minors and to encourage the adoption of healthier eating habits from a young age. Authorities noted that children are particularly vulnerable to persuasive marketing tactics, such as colorful packaging and endorsements by social media influencers, which can negatively impact their long-term nutritional preferences.
