The Interior Ministry of Kazakhstan has announced that over 52,000 surveillance cameras across the country are now equipped with artificial intelligence capabilities. These advanced systems are designed to identify wanted individuals, locate missing persons, and monitor compliance with migration regulations. Beyond facial recognition, the technology can automatically detect potential security threats, including the presence of weapons, smoke, large gatherings, or abandoned items. Furthermore, the ministry confirmed that these video recordings are legally admissible as independent evidence in administrative offense proceedings, as stipulated by the national Code of Administrative Offenses. This integration of AI aims to streamline law enforcement operations and improve the efficiency of monitoring public spaces throughout the nation.
