Khalilur Rahman has officially commenced his term as the 81st President of the United Nations General Assembly. Following his victory in the June election against Cypriot candidate Andreas S. Kakouris with 99 votes, he presided over the opening session this Tuesday. This marks a significant milestone for Bangladesh, as the nation assumes this leadership role for the first time in forty years. During his inaugural address, Rahman acknowledged the difficulty of achieving swift resolutions to complex international challenges within a harmonious framework. Nevertheless, he pledged that his administration would remain dedicated to seeking viable solutions for global issues. His tenure begins with a clear focus on maintaining consistent efforts toward international cooperation and addressing the pressing concerns currently facing the global community.
