A Sessions Court in Kuala Terengganu has cleared 61-year-old Mohd Amran Ghazali of six counts of misappropriating RM15,350 in association funds. The retired Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (Risda) employee faced these charges regarding events that allegedly occurred a decade ago. Judge Azman Mustapha delivered the acquittal after determining that the prosecution did not establish a prima facie case. The court noted that evidence presented, including testimony from the seventh prosecution witness, indicated the funds were utilized for official state association activities rather than personal gain. Following the ruling, the judge ordered that the defendant's RM6,000 bail be returned. The accused had previously served as an administrative assistant at the Risda office in Terengganu when the charges were initially brought against him in 2021.
