Severe weather conditions, characterized by persistent rain and high winds during the final phase of the monsoon, have severely impacted agricultural output across Nepal. Crops nearing maturity, such as sugarcane, vegetables, and paddy, have suffered extensive damage. Farmers, already burdened by limited access to fertilizers and irrigation, now face the destruction of their seasonal yields as harvested crops left to dry have been submerged or soaked. The loss of these essential food supplies is expected to reduce domestic production, likely forcing the nation to increase its spending on food imports by billions of rupees. Specific regions, including Banke, Dang, and Salyan, have reported substantial losses, with harvested paddy left in fields at high risk of rotting. This recurring natural disaster continues to undermine the livelihoods of local farmers and threatens the country's overall food security.
