National Independent Party MP Madhav Bahadur Thapa has formally criticized a violent assault in Palpa district allegedly orchestrated by local representatives. During a session of the House of Representatives, Thapa reported that a group, including ward chairman Raju Shrestha, severely beat several workers, resulting in broken bones and multiple serious injuries. The lawmaker expressed deep concern that the involvement of elected officials undermines the rule of law and public safety. He voiced skepticism regarding the impartiality of local law enforcement due to their perceived proximity to the perpetrators. Consequently, Thapa has urged the Home Minister to initiate a transparent investigation, ensure the victims receive medical care, and hold the attackers accountable. He emphasized that holding public office does not grant individuals immunity from the law and demanded that the government demonstrate that all citizens are treated equally under the justice system.
