Workers' Party member Jackson Au recently spoke out in support of Aljunied Member of Parliament Kenneth Tiong, alleging that Mr. Tiong had become the target of a coordinated online effort to discredit him. This online activity emerged following Mr. Tiong's announcement that he intended to raise questions in Parliament concerning a significant financial request from Air India. Air India, partly owned by Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Tata Sons, sought an additional US$1.5 billion due to substantial losses. Mr. Tiong highlighted on August 26 that given Singapore Airlines' approximately 25% stake in Air India and state-owned Temasek's effective control of over 50% of SIA, any financial contribution would have considerable implications for Temasek, making it a matter of public interest beyond private shareholders.
