Senator Kiko Pangilinan and the Liberal Party have defended Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo after she faced criticism for hosting Israeli Ambassador Dana Kursh. The meeting, which took place during the ambassador's visit to the Bicol region, was described by party officials as a standard diplomatic courtesy rather than an endorsement of Israel's military actions in Gaza. Pangilinan emphasized that fulfilling diplomatic duties does not equate to supporting atrocities, reiterating the party's commitment to human rights and international law. The Liberal Party urged the public to remain fair and objective, distinguishing between formal diplomatic engagement and political alignment. They further reaffirmed their support for a two-state solution, stressing that the Philippines remains committed to the security, dignity, and self-determination of the Palestinian people amidst the ongoing regional conflict.
