The Malaysian Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living has announced the 2026 Deepavali Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme, scheduled to operate from November 4 to 10. This year, the initiative expands to include 11 essential goods, adding imported potatoes from China and coconut milk to the list. Other regulated products include various types of onions, red chillies, tomatoes, mutton, dhal, and coconut-based items. Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali noted that the government has successfully lowered the maximum price ceilings for five of these commodities in Peninsular Malaysia compared to previous years. This regulatory measure aims to stabilize market costs for consumers during the festival period, ensuring that key ingredients remain affordable for households celebrating the occasion.
