Maya Bay, located on Koh Phi Phi Leh within the Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park, officially resumed operations on October 1. The site had been closed since August 1 to facilitate the natural recovery of its marine ecosystem and beach environment during the monsoon season. This annual two-month hiatus is designed to mitigate the environmental impact of tourism and ensure safety during periods of turbulent sea conditions. Visitors must continue to adhere to established conservation protocols, which include a strict ban on swimming. Furthermore, boat operators are required to utilize the pier at Loh Samah Bay on the island's opposite side to prevent direct maritime traffic within the bay. These measures are part of a long-term strategy to protect the area, which was previously subjected to significant ecological damage from excessive tourist activity prior to a major closure in 2018.
