The National Bank of Uzbekistan (NBU) has announced plans to issue international bonds valued at $250 million, marking its debut in the Chinese capital market. This initiative was formalized through an agreement signed during the 11th Belt and Road Summit. The bonds will be listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and denominated in both Chinese Yuan and Uzbek Soum. By entering the Asian debt market, the bank aims to diversify its funding streams and currency holdings. This strategic move is expected to broaden the institution's international investor base and secure necessary capital to finance significant investment projects within Uzbekistan. This development represents a notable expansion of the bank's international borrowing capabilities and strengthens financial ties between Uzbekistan and Asian capital markets.
