The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nepal has officially inaugurated a dedicated environment diplomacy section. This new administrative unit aims to formalize and strengthen the nation's diplomatic efforts regarding climate change and environmental protection. According to the Foreign Minister’s secretariat, the decision was driven by the growing severity of climate impacts within the country and the necessity for a more structured governmental response. Operating under the division responsible for the United Nations and its specialized agencies, the section was created following an organizational and management assessment. This initiative is designed to improve institutional coordination and enhance Nepal's representation at various regional and global climate forums. By centralizing these efforts, the government intends to better manage its participation in international environmental conferences and advance its strategic interests in global climate policy.
