Nepal Football League Pvt Ltd has officially unveiled plans for a new domestic football tournament, the Nepal Football League (NFL), scheduled to commence on February 13, 2027. This initiative introduces a club-led management structure for the sport. The announcement follows significant delays regarding the fourth edition of the Nepal Super League (NSL), which was originally slated for September 5 but has faced indefinite postponement without a rescheduled date. The emergence of the NFL has cast doubt on the future of the franchise-based NSL, especially as representatives from seven clubs previously associated with the NSL were present at the NFL launch event. This shift suggests a potential move by these organizations toward the newly proposed league model as the status of the NSL remains unresolved.
