The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) has officially reinstated toll collection as of Wednesday afternoon following the reopening of all lanes at the Tulaoc Overpass and San Simon Interchange in Pampanga. These specific segments had previously been subjected to a toll-free policy starting September 2 due to severe flooding caused by heavy monsoon rains. The Department of Public Works and Highways confirmed that traffic flow has normalized in both directions as floodwaters receded. Previously, motorists faced significant delays, with some stranded for several hours during the peak of the weather disturbance. In response to the disruption, the Department of Transportation has formally requested that NLEX Corporation provide a detailed explanation regarding the flooding incidents and submit comprehensive strategies to prevent similar infrastructure issues in the future.
