The commencement of passenger operations for the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link connecting Singapore and Johor Bahru has been rescheduled to late February 2027. Originally planned for a year-end 2026 launch, the project timeline was extended by the operator, RTS Operations (RTSO). This adjustment is attributed to the time required to complete construction tasks and secure necessary safety certifications from independent third parties. Furthermore, the project must receive final regulatory authorization from both Singaporean and Malaysian authorities. Officials from Singapore's Land Transport Authority and the Malaysian Ministry of Transport confirmed that the revised schedule remains contingent upon meeting these rigorous safety and legal requirements. The primary objective remains the delivery of a secure and dependable cross-border rail connection for commuters.
