More than 200 passengers on the Villa Vie Odyssey residential cruise ship were left stranded in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, after the operator, Villa Vie Residences, halted their global journey. The company cited rising fuel expenses as the primary reason for the sudden suspension. The vessel, which arrived from Thailand on October 23 with 203 passengers and 156 crew members, was forced to stop its itinerary before reaching Vietnam. Affected individuals were given a short notice of only seven hours to vacate the Bahamas-flagged ship by 2 p.m. on October 27. Local authorities, including Preah Sihanouk Deputy Governor Long Dimanche, confirmed the vessel's presence in the port. Passengers are currently seeking alternative travel arrangements and local accommodation following the unexpected termination of their voyage.
