Pakistan and Qatar are finalizing negotiations to adjust the pricing structure of their existing long-term liquefied natural gas supply agreements. Currently, two contracts between Pakistan State Oil and QatarEnergy are scheduled to remain in effect until 2031. Although Pakistani officials initially sought a reduction to 10.20% of the Brent crude price for their primary contract, QatarEnergy opted for a compromise. The parties have reached an understanding to set the price at 11.36% of Brent for both active agreements. These discussions aim to alleviate the financial burden of energy imports for Pakistan. While specific requests regarding the second contract were not fully met, the revised formula represents a significant shift in the commercial terms governing the bilateral energy trade between the two nations.
