South Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung is allegedly planning to discontinue its large home appliance business in Hong Kong. This strategic shift follows a similar withdrawal from the mainland Chinese market earlier this year. While the company's mobile phones, televisions, and computer monitors will remain available to local consumers, items such as refrigerators, air conditioning units, and vacuum cleaners have been removed from the brand's official regional website and are listed as unavailable at various retail outlets. Industry analysts note that the local appliance market, valued at approximately 2.7 trillion won, has become increasingly difficult to navigate due to heavy competition. Premium market segments are currently dominated by American and Japanese firms, while Chinese manufacturers maintain a strong presence in the budget and mid-range sectors.
