The Pakistani government has addressed rumors regarding the potential deployment of the Makkah Defence Alliance in the Yemen conflict. Foreign Office spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan clarified that there are currently no active discussions concerning military intervention, despite the escalating tensions between Saudi Arabia and Houthi rebels. Officials emphasized that the trilateral pact between Pakistan, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia is primarily a political framework. The current focus remains on establishing the operational structure and administrative mechanisms of the alliance rather than engaging in combat operations. This statement follows reports suggesting that Riyadh had requested assistance from Islamabad after recent Houthi attacks. The Foreign Office maintains that the agreement serves as an umbrella arrangement, and the partners are presently prioritizing the consolidation of the alliance's foundational elements before defining its specific functional roles in regional security matters.
