A catering service provider at a boarding school in Lenggong, Perak, has been instructed to cease operations after 159 individuals, including students and staff, reported symptoms consistent with food poisoning. According to Datuk A. Sivanesan, the state executive councillor for health, the Hulu Perak District Health Office was alerted to the situation on September 10. The affected individuals, ranging from 13 to 52 years old, began showing signs of illness late on September 9. Common symptoms reported included abdominal pain, diarrhoea, nausea, headaches, vomiting, and fever. While the majority of those impacted received medical attention directly at the school premises, ten people required additional care at the local health clinic. Fortunately, none of the victims necessitated hospital admission. Health officials are currently managing the situation following the immediate closure of the catering facility.
