The Philippine National Police (PNP) has indicated its readiness to collaborate with French authorities to locate former party-list lawmaker Zaldy Co. Co is facing significant plunder charges related to an alleged P7.4-billion kickback scheme involving flood control projects. PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. affirmed that the police would work through Interpol, ensuring due process and the pursuit of justice should Co be found abroad. He clarified that international protocols and diplomatic channels would be followed for any arrest and subsequent transfer of custody. Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla had previously mentioned that Philippine authorities would pursue an Interpol red notice request for Co in France. Co, alongside former House speaker Martin Romualdez and two others, is implicated in the scandal, with Romualdez recently apprehended. Nartatez urged Co and his co-accused to surrender, emphasizing that evading arrest would not impede the legal process.
