Bangladesh railway officials are preparing to expand service on the Dhaka–Cox’s Bazar corridor by extending the Mahanagar Express route. Currently serving the Dhaka–Chattogram line, the train is expected to reach the popular tourist destination starting in early October. This decision follows persistent requests from local residents and political figures who sought improved connectivity at intermediate stations between the capital and Chattogram. By extending this service, the railway department aims to provide direct travel options for passengers at these previously underserved stops. The initiative follows a recent inspection of the Chattogram–Cox’s Bazar railway infrastructure conducted by Railway Minister Habibur Rashid on August 1.
