The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) recently collected 177,500 taka in penalties across 28 separate legal cases. This enforcement action occurred on Sunday as executive magistrates carried out mobile court operations in various neighborhoods within the city. The inspections were conducted to identify and eliminate Aedes mosquito breeding grounds, which are primary vectors for dengue fever. These activities are part of a broader, three-month initiative launched by the municipal authorities to control the mosquito population and improve public health safety. Officials discovered the larvae inside several residential properties, leading to the immediate imposition of fines to ensure compliance with sanitation regulations and to curb the spread of mosquito-borne diseases in the capital.
