The Third Division of the Sandiganbayan has officially issued a commitment order regarding the detention of former House Speaker Martin Romualdez at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility located in Payatas, Quezon City. Despite this directive, Romualdez is permitted to stay at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center to receive necessary treatment for his current health issues. The court has mandated that the BJMP assume full responsibility for his security and custody while he remains hospitalized. During the proceedings, three medical professionals provided testimony to the court regarding the specific nature of the former speaker's health condition to justify his temporary stay at the medical facility under guard.
